At the special meeting of the Sunnyvale City Council on March 17th, we agreed to help Sunnyvale Community services with an emergency grant of $250,000 for one or more of the following:  Rental Assistance (current, arrears) Deposit Assistance (Relocations) City Utilities PG&E Motel Stays (up to 30 days) Medical Bills Transportation Costs Food (Gift Cards and food purchases) Staffing Cost (such as overtime and temporary staff) Council also allow the City Manager to waive water fees. City Council Calls Special Meeting To Address COVID-19 Response Tomorrow, March 17

UPDATE; The City Council called a special meeting for 6:30 PM tomorrow to begin to address the special needs in our community due to the COVID-19, including consideration of a proposed emergency assistance agreement with Sunnyvale Community Services and to give the City Manager authority for 60 days to prevent water shut off situations for people experiencing virus-related layoffs. Council will be considering an emergency resolution and a federally required item, but have otherwise cancelled non-essential presentations and items.

Less than 24 hours after Governor Newsom ordered people 65 years and older to home isolate, Santa Clara County Health Department as well as six additional counties in our region issued an order to shelter in place.
