COVID-19 Update from City Council Meeting

At the special meeting of the Sunnyvale City Council on March 17th, we agreed to help Sunnyvale Community services with an emergency grant of $250,000 for one or more of the following:

  • Rental Assistance (current, arrears)
  • Deposit Assistance (Relocations)
  • City Utilities
  • PG&E
  • Motel Stays (up to 30 days)
  • Medical Bills
  • Transportation Costs
  • Food (Gift Cards and food purchases)
  • Staffing Cost (such as overtime and temporary staff)

Council also allow the City Manager to waive water fees. More measures will be coming soon at a future Council meeting, including possible additional relief for utility bills, support for small business, and protection against eviction.

Council also extended the emergency proclamation by 30 days.

Many have asked about testing as well, so they can gauge the percentage of infections of those being tested. One of the sites I’ve been following that cites sources for all their infection counts is also now posting the number of tests per jurisdiction. You can find their breakdown of information by state here.
